Paradise Primary on Sunday July 11th was
a great success and despite some rainy weather, we had a great
turnout and lots of singing and dancing.
Our next function will
be for the Nepalese festival Dasain in October. We will keep you
updated & hopefully see you there.

Congratulations to
Sagarmatha Nepali Restaurant and Namaste Nepalese Restaurant for
becoming Finalists in the SA Restaurant & Catering Awards held
recently. Along with The Himalayan Kitchen, you have 3
restaurants in Adelaide where you can try quality Nepalese food.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FAREWELL to Gyanendra
Bajrachayra and his wife Laxmi who are returning to Nepal on 1st August
2004. They will be missed by many of us here. As Gyanendra is
currently on the NAFA Committee, he will continue to be our
Nepali correspondent and we look forward to sharing news with
him.
NAFA COMMITTEE NEWS
We have recently
joined the Multicultural Communities Council of SA and this
provides us with some benefits such as the use of their Hall
in Gilbert St in the city for a nominal fee.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Ethnic Schools
Board is a government organisation that provides grants and
allows Cultural groups to use public school facilities to
hold lessons in their National language. If you would like
to know more about NEPALI Lessons for CHILDREN, then
please contact Daya Pankaj (8276 3853)
We are looking at
starting them in the New Year and will need volunteers and
names of any interested parents. With our growing Nepalese
community, and increasing mixed marriages we want to be able
to offer the children of Nepalese parent/s the opportunity
to learn their mother tongue and to keep the language alive.
If you would like to share any news
with the Nepalese community, please contact the secretary on
this
email address:

-From Radio National’s “Asia Pacific” 7.6.03
Nepal hopes to close camps for refugees from Bhutan
in the next few months. Bhutan is well on its way to establishing a
constitutional monarchy. Encouraged by the King, Bhutan has the
structure in place for the introduction of a democratic system in the
very near future.
-News snippets: The media in Australia gives little
news of Nepal. If you come across interesting articles in newspapers,
magazines, on TV, radio, the internet or from personal contacts, then
please share them for our newsletters or the notice board we put up at
